Can you play gameboy color games on sp
Whitechapel Whitechapel 3 3 gold badges 9 9 silver badges 12 12 bronze badges. Always a pleasure, when a valid question is closed while an answer is being written. By the way, this isn't a shopping recommendation in my book.
Since this question is on hold until further notice, I'll just post an ultra-short version of my intended answer: All Game Boy systems will do except for the Game Boy Micro , which is only compatible to Game Boy Advance titles.
Why all the -1 votes? Just because he asked "Where can I buy from? In that case, this question should just be updated to something like "What systems can I play pokemon and other original gameboy games on?
Note that there are emulators on PC which make you able to play these games on your pc inside a virtual Game Boy. Show 4 more comments. Active Oldest Votes. If you need a new one, your best options are the following: Game Boy Color not recommended There's no reason to get a gameboy pocket or, barf, an original gameboy since the GBC can easily emulate the monochrome display if you MUST not have color.
Game Boy Advance SP recommended Might be a bit more expensive, but the first built-in backlit and has rechargable batteries. Improve this answer. Ben Brocka Ben Brocka Another problem with the old games is that by now the save batteries are going bad, meaning you cant load or save without replacing them.
I tried my original Silver version a couple years ago and this happened to me. There ARE ways to fix it, but it can be a pain if you don't know what you're doing. Katustrawfic yeah, this was brought up in comments above. Gen 1 batteries should still be okay my release copies are but will likely die within a couple years I think. Gen 2 batteries are already dead the clock kills them. Gen 3 batteries are ALSO dead but this only affects time functions, not the saves, unlike gen 1 and 2.
Batteries are no longer an issue as of gen 4 due to built in time. The Super Retro Advance Adapter by Retro-bit comes outfitted with a GBA link cable port link cable sold separately for connection of up to 3 Game boy systems for multi- player games. To put it simply, it's a better version of the original Super Game Boy.
It works with any region of game and it's even compatible with your North American Super NES after a minor modification more specifically, removing the tabs located in the cartridge slot. Region -locks could be bypassed using special unlicensed cartridge adapters such as Game Genie. It depends on the game.
Basically, it's a regular GB cartridge colored black. Plus, you'll have access to the newer Pokemon games -- the last generation of which was surprisingly great, it's worth noting. I mean, you could probably emulate it on your iPhone or Android or whatever, if you have one.
I have LeafGreen on mine, but that was more just to see if I could do it; I haven't really played it. Having played the original on the eshop recently, I forgot how much has changed since the Gameboy and the GBA games would be the easy option. Not sure how much they would cost though. The remakes of gold and silver came out on the DS.
It is not the originals but based on the second generation pokemon games for Gameboy Color so still very old school. I was in your position and bought the remake of Gold even though I didn't play gold or silver back in the day. Every Nintendo handheld can play at least one version of Pokemon Red. You might also want to consider that a lot of old cartridges may also have dead batteries limiting or completely destroying your ability to save.
It's an easy fix but can be daunting if you go in blind. Not to get side tracked on this forum but I have some related questions that maybe you all can help me with. I have my gameboy color from childhood intact and the few games I have left still work and their batteries hold up. But the screen on the game boy is broken. I can barely seen the games on screen unless I told and hit the natural light just right. Is this a simple fix with a new lcd screen or do I need to do one of those so called mods?
You can probably find it cheaply online. It's still the same core game but they brought over a couple of huge quality-of-life improvements, as well as having it be in full colour.
Failing that, you could probably buy an old GameBoy Colour and the original game for not too much money - I wouldn't really recommend this though. The DS is a much more user-friendly system and you already own it. Last edited by Nico87; at PM. It's always kind of bothered me how there's no perfect solution for GBA games. Every single version has something annoying about it. The power switch on every GBA except for the micro gets messed up as well.
Selling gaming accessories. It even supports super gameboy and the screen resolution is amazing. We just had a thread about this. Originally Posted by thegamezmaster.
