How to setup airplay with denon
It's a very versatile device. Sorry if I've missed something here, but why is an Airport Express required? The amp has inbuilt AirPLay support and can access an iTunes library over a LAN connection and via its own inbuilt networking abilities. He couldn't get it to work, and, afaik, the amp can't do it. The ae will let him play music wirelessly to an analogue input on the amp, which can then be sent to the zone 2 speakers.
Ok im up and running now although as far as i can see the apple remote app wont do anything for me since i only want to play the music thats in my ipod? Also the volume issue im having is with the denon remote app it wont go over If i set it at the amp its fine but if i touch the volume with the remote ap its back to a max of Have you turned off the volume limit like I said?
Also I think there is a separate volume limit control for zone 2 but don't quote me on that bit. Actually, you say you can already raise it higher than 81 from the amp.
You do know that this is reference level though don't you? Do you really want to go louder? If you only want to play tracks from your iPod, then I guess the remote app isn't needed. It'll let you play music from your computer running iTunes and control the volume, but I don't think it'll do anything with music on the iPod.
The has separate volume limits for all zones, so I guess that the will be the same. Looks like you can set the limit to 61, 71 or 81, or turn it off. Yeah the limit for zone 2 is set to off but as undercover says 81 is probably loud enough.

Communities Get Support. Sorry if this is a stupid question. However, when I try to use Tidal the amp displays "Airplay" which I assume means it is using Airplay from my phone over my home network and not connecting directly with Tidal servers.
This means I am limited to whatever quality is possible with Airplay. I just don't get this; what is the point in the AVR "Having Tidal" if it just connects over Airplay like any other source I could send it? What is the benefit and meaning of the Tidal logo on the box and on the AVR?
Is Spotify the only streaming service that allows direct connection to internet? I'm clearly missing something obvious, I just don't know what it is. Last edited: Mar 11, Bolosun Active Member. Is it via the HEOS app? Bolosun said:. Click to expand Mac Novice Member. Wulbert said:. I was trying to make Tidal work from my laptop, in the same, simple way that Spotify Connect does. I tend not to use my phone once I finish work I'm self employed and like to ignore it after 6pm. But yes, it seems to work via the HEOS app on my phone.
I can select and play songs direct to the Denon from my phone, which then displays "Tidal". However there is no indication that the amp is connecting direct to the Tidal music stream and simply being controlled by the phone.
I'd like to know I'm getting the best quality stream that I can. I'm on a Tidal free trial, trying to see if it's worth paying for. Bachemar Active Member.
