Loremaster kalimdor patch 3.0.8
As originally conceived both the continents of Azeroth, Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor , were a single unit for questing purposes. One example would be the no longer available Fallen Hero of the Horde quest line that originally required multiple trips between Swamp of Sorrows and Azshara. In many cases quest givers in Eastern Kingdoms provided quests that would count for Kalimdor and vice versa. This achievement initially required completion of Alliance and Horde quests across all the zones of Kalimdor.
In Patch 3. Effective with Cataclysm and Patch 4. WoWWiki Explore. WoW info. Gathering Production Secondary. Allied races. I have no more quests left to do except for the last one where I would lose the rod and have since done well over in the Eastern Kingdoms that I had missed. This makes me think that there has to be quite a number of quests for Kalimdor that are not counting correctly for whatever reason.
One might want to consider just waiting for a fix to be implemented by Blizzard before going through this hell. Comment by Is there any chance someone could enlighten me as to where the majority of the 'crossover' quests begin? I've got a little over quests complete, and was hoping to use the quests that start in Eastern Kingdoms to get the remaining or so left.
Comment by Xenomech Here's a site detailing a quest chain in Feralas that's easily overlooked. As a bonus, you get a pet sprite darter in the end! Comment by Well, I had to backtrack into a lot of places. Desolace to get the two escort quests had to camp there for an hour and nearly missed it due to an untimely gank.
Azuremyst for the escort at the north end of Silvermyst Isle. Feralas for the Sprite Darter line, the homing beacon, and the Dire Maul imp quest. Felwood for the flute of Xavathras escort. And to finish it off I ended up doing the Abyssal Duke thing in Silithus.
Handing in the Signet put me at This achievement will likely be nerfed when enough people complain that Horde only has to do like 30 less in EK and less here -- a valid complaint IMO :P -- but I can definitely say "I did this before it was easy! Comment by I got this yesterday on my human rogue. It's pretty straight forward. There are two tips I have that made it possible. More importantly, buying Shadowcraft Bracers for 3 gold resulted in 5 kalimdor quests.
Just thought I'd add my 2 cents. Comment by Achieved yesterday on Nightelf Druid. Since this character is so old, the hardest part, by far, was remembering, and often not remembering, what quests I had completed.
Finished it by doing the first 2 Duke Hydraxis quests in Azshara, for some reason I had thought that they were all raid stuff and hadn't swam out there before.
The first two are completely and easily soloable. Do pick up and do the entire Sprite Darter line. I did do one side on the centaurs. That wasn't too painful. I had previously gotten friendly with Timbermaw, so I may have done a quest at that time, but certainly no higher.
Otherwise I used all the good suggestions from previous comments, Durotar, rare mob quest drops, escort quests I had overlooked. Centaur pariah. Nothing too weird or raid-like.
DM quests were the hardest bit, since I had to get a bit of help for that. It can be accomplished by a casual, but semi-obsessed player. Comment by I just got this today thanks in part to all the great comments here. To add a few things of my own, several of which are no doubt repeats I kept two Wowhead pages open throughout my quest, one with the zone I was working in and the map set to display quest givers.
The other was an item list filtered to display "This Item Starts a Quest" items and a second filter for the zone I was in. Work on this Achievement before you do Runecloth turn ins for City reps you will get tons of rep from all these quests. If there is a quest that starts from a dropped item that your not sure you have ever done or not, a polite request to a GM can sometimes help you out, they were able to tell me which of the three chicken escort quest I had done saving me alot of time farming for something that wouldn't have dropped.
Most importantly be patient and methodical, at first I jumped in randomly and I ended up having to revisit many zones, do the zones in the same order you would if you where leveling up follow the normal progression and it will minimize running. This achievement is doable with wiggle room left to spare, not much but there is some. Just when you think there isn't possible any more quests you could do you will find another cluster or find something you missed.
Just stick to it and you will have it done in no time. Comment by DarkShinigami For everyone who thinks this is unbalanced, it's not just this. For the Loremaster title, the Alliance has a total of more quests than the Horde. Outland wasn't too bad on either side, same for Northrend. Both of those seem balanced to what is available to each faction.
Honestly, vanilla is the only thing that seems to be VASTLY unbalanced, but Blizz could cut the Alliance a little slack to balance the totals out, at the very least. Comment by its all the years of easy mode pre tbc coming back to bite us in the ass previously horde, now alliance plater. Comment by Just finished this beast. The last 30 quests were rough, here are a few that I missed that I haven't seen mentioned here.
However, if you talk to him a quest DOES become available. It's 2 more quests for the achievement. You need to have been in Dire Maul first to talk to him. Comment by Kerrianne Something else for people to consider: I've been working on this one for days now, and I'm finding that a lot of the quests that are counting towards Kalimdor are parts of chains that I abandoned over 2 years ago when I was leveling. I think the sheer travel time involved. Kalimdor seems to have more time-wasting quests, imho, and that usually means traveling long distances or just generally large amounts of time not spent earning XP, which usually results in people abandoning quests in favor of faster XP gaining methods.
Comment by I am almost positive this achievement is bugged in some way. I have scoured every corner of the world for quests going to and from Kalimdor and I'm positive I've finished every damn quest in the Eastern Kingdoms. All I have left is the AQ scepter questline, and exalted Timbermaw to grind out. And the myriad of quests in CH that requires idols and scarabs from AQ20 and Short of that I have to un-grind 35, rep of hated Magram Centaurs to get at the 5 or so quests from their leader, and I'm not willing to do that until I'm at or higher.
It appears that the older your character is, the worse this seems to be to achieve, and not just because you dont know which quests you have and haven't done. I'm beginning to think that a lot of the quests I did as a young druid 2 years ago have somehow not counted.
I am also hearing some talk about characters involved in realm transfers are being the worst hit by this bug, which makes sense considering I've hopped at least 3 realms in the last 2 years. I've been to every starting zone, found every quest giver, found every drop quest that would drop with 20 minutes of farming for it, used the Wowhead Alliance quest giver only maps, every instance quest and been to every hidden NPC and all their wacky annoying escorts.
I know this achievement is within my reach, but compared to the eastern kingdoms achievement this is a real pain in the ass. This Achievement has more bugs than AQ. Comment by I was also stuck at this achivement and the hidden quests mentioned here really helped me a lot!
I dont think anyone mentioned this one yet. Comment by Finally done today! One tip, almost all the quests in Shimmering Flats that send you to EK give Kalimdor credit, and those that don't will send you back for a good more Kalimdor credit quests in the chain, so keep going if a quest sends you to EK. Just keep it up, and you'll eventually get there.
This achievement is definitely an achievement. Comment by I just finished this achivement with all the help that came from everyone in theise comments. Comment by veno3 This achievment is in line for some changes. Loremaster of Kalimdor has been changed from to quests for the Alliance, from to quests for the Horde. It seems that they no longer include Silverpine Forest quests and now take Darnassus, Exodar, and Caverns of Time quests into account.
Originally you were supposed to escort an NPC out of a silithid hive at the Writhing Deep, but it bugged out a lot and many people couldn't complete it. Eventually, Blizzard fixed the quest by taking out the escort part! Just go down into the hive, open the "! Finish the chain for three more Kalimdor quests. Comment by Lessiel As of test realm patchnotes for 3.
Loremaster of Kalimdor has been changed from to quests for the Alliance and from to quests for the Horde. Silverpine Forest quests will now correctly count towards the Eastern Kingdoms rather then Kalimdor. If you have already completed the Kalimdor achievement via the Silverpine quests you will not lose it although the correct count will be displayed in your achievement panel.
Many quests in Darnassus, The Exodar, and the Caverns of Time which did not previously count towards the Loremaster achievement are now counted. Comment by Celticjazz I'm filthy they've "dumbed" down another achievement, now any Joe quest doer can get it. Wish Blizzard would stop dumbing everything down so much. Be patient, it will come :D and good luck!
Comment by The amount required is being changed for 3. The patch notes did not say to what number, anyone on PTR able to tell us? Comment by Ok before TBC was released i did infact try to complete every quest available ingame. They appear to have added new quests in lowbie regions most probably to make the grind faster. So if like me you have complete the majority go back to areas you have covered. Comment by just did a fishing one in darkshore called The family and the fishing pole.
Comment by So I was able to complete this prior to the 3. At least mine will be dated before that. Comment by 3. Comment by everything posted has pieced together to make a pretty helpful guild. Comment by So far I'm quests in to a level 26 Warrior Draenei and only of those quests count towards the Loremaster achievement. He has two quests that count towards this achievement. Getting up to him can be tricky. Use the path going up starting at 41, I confirmed his Morrowgrain quest counts the first time you turn it in.
Comment by Liri Dont forget 2 alli quests in Durotar. Thanks Rezlak! Comment by Just finished it after 2weeks of questing, thanks for all great tips here. If you have problem finding last 30quests, do all the things posted above then go zone by zone to all quest givers wowhead maps show them and im sure you will find at least 15 quests which you skipped whilst leveling. The moment I did achievment I had quests done total. Goodluck everybody. Comment by In patch 3. Comment by andyhre So I went to bed last night with quests, frustrated as heck but determined to keep plugging away.
I ad a list of a lot of the harder to find quests, and I was going to start going to doing them today, only to see there was a patch, and then, miracle of miracles, the total quest required was lowered from to After some further digging, I saw some of the quests I had done that had inexplicably not counted, were going to count after all.
I logged on today and bang -- I had the achievement. So I got credit for at least 11 quests I had already done that had not previously counted. Wish i could tell you which, but I suspect they included stuff in Darnassus and Exodar I had done all of the cloth turns ins and also the Caverns of Time baby quests got talk to so and so, go take a tour from whatshername, etc.
Comment by Heekale Cripes! The 3. Comment by Hartge As much as I wanted to complete this before the patch they definitely made this easier with the patch. I am guessing now the quest in Tanaris that requires you to go to EPL and get the last two tablets may now count since the quest ends in Kalimdor.
Even then, when I completed this I dropped about 10 quests in my log, a few of which had a chain after them and still had a few other places to check. Low level quest tracking really made this achievement much easier, but I am going to beat the dead horse when I put my 2 cents in here. First thing I did was go to objects on Wowhead and put a filter in for "This item starts a quest After you have that list which isn't big , bring up a map of each zone on wowhead and show Alliance Questgivers and be sure to check each and every one of them.
If that giver does not have a quest for you, click their dot on the map and see if there are any pre-reqs for the quests they start, because they usually will. Ironforge and Stormwind yield a decent amount of quests that count towards Kalimdor, the best to way to tell is to check the zone the quest is under in your log. At quests before the patch I thought I was in for a lot of running around which you are anyways , but the biggest hubs I missed containing numerous quests were: Feathermoon Stronghold and Shimmering Flats in Thousand Needles, I really could not believe just how many quests I had missed in those areas.
While you are doing those quests you'll probably see Azore Aldamort pop up with 2 quests near the coastline, along with a few goblin questgivers around the area.
Honestly I feel all Blizzard had to do was implement the quests that didn't count before and this would still be very easy, with the patch I gained an extra 25 quests that hadn't counted before, and completing the other 30 quests if they kept it at would really have been quite simple and reasonable. I am not as burnt out as I thought I would be and I did my last 61 quests in about hours time.
I was really hoping for more of a challenge than what I got, but I am sure I would have gotten one if I had tried harder to finish it before the patch. Happy questing. Of course, only for the first hand-in of 60, not the repeatable. Did all the cloth hand-ins today in Darnassus and Exxodar and they all count towards the loremaster achivement.
GL to those that have just a few left and ignored these. Comment by PoisonSystemX If I could slip this one in here, found it in Desolace whilst completing quests for the clans. Comment by If you need a few quests, try running Uldaman and starting a quest line from the Discs of Norgannon at the end of the instance. Horde , Alliance. Comment by There are quests in Stormwind and other Eastern Kingdoms places that count for Kalimdor aswell.
I'm 56 away from this achievement and title so I'll be spending some time here looking :. Comment by Gwalchgwyn Is this possible to do without doing the quests in Everlook? Comment by Dear fellow Loremasters I'm having a difficult job finding quests for my achievement.
This morning I began with 45 quests to go and slowly I could reach the amount of quest I needed now, which is I been to Exodar where I discovered quests and since then I've been checking wowhead for escots like Mist in Teldrassil and " this item begins a quest " It's been 3,5 years ago I dinged 60, so I can't really remember that sharp what I have done and what not.
I done the 3 "chickens" from beacons you get in Hinterlands, Tanaris and Ferelas and I got a pet out of that so i'm pretty sure I done those.
I am really confused what I have done, where I should go and what to do. I even done Dire Maul quests to get up the number of quests done I hate Dire Maul I'm pretty sure every instance on Kalimdor-side I have completed all quests from, with exception of quests I got from EK. I'm 20 off and I'm so desperate to get this achievement I would like some help or tips how to get the last ones :.
Comment by It's been like 3,5 hours later and i'm on 11 quests now. I found some at the beach of the coast of Darkshore to the North I finished 2 quests in Dire Maul and I can't even remember where I did the others. Comment by nirces In desolace, its possible after completing the quest chain for either gelkis or magram to switch reputation and do the quests for the other. Comment by I'd like to give some tipps: - A Supernatural Device quest chain starts from IF and counts for Kalimdor 5 quest I'm not sure weather the first quest counts toward Kalimdor, but the following ones do - To Winterspring!
Most of the quest chain count for Kalimdor - Diabolical Plans. Starts from an item which is dropped by demons in Ashenvale - Pristine Yeti Hide. It also started by a quest item. I think this achievement has become really easy since it was nerfed. It would be more exciting if the quest ammount was still Anyway, this achievement is a great adventure, you can learn the true story of the Old-world and it also very useful for those who started to play WoW after the realising of BC.
So thanks Blizz. Comment by For anyone starting out, my tupence worth for speeding this grind up after it took me 3 weeks to get the complete title in all lands Inc grinding exalted with a few factions along the way 1.
Free up as much bag space as possible. Don't avoid looting as you may miss on drops that begin quests. The more time you can save emptying bag space at a vendor the better. Start on the lowest level areas as some of the final quests will often send you onto the next lvl areas. Avoid going into the dungeons until you have at least quests in one..
I promise this saves a LOT of time. Quest chains that you dumped half way through that required an item can amount to a good few quests.. Do Kalimdor and EK at the same time as much as is possible.
Have an alt at the AH ready to check if any items you need for quests can be bought. Much of this is stating the obvious but hope it's of use to someone sometime. Oh yeah final tip.. Comment by Remember to check the quests given by the gnome in the Stonetalon Mountains, I just did this achi, and I lacked about quests.
Stonetalon, Dustwallow, Ratchet, Silithus and Desolace gave me a lot of quests. Once I hit , there was still plenty of quests left whole centaur line in Desolace for example , few in Silithus, Some random ones here and there.
Don't forget the Winterspring quests too, there's about of easy ones there. This is doable, and quite easy in the end. Silithus quests are the only real pain in the butt. I also didn't complete nor start the AQ questline. Never did any of those dungeon set thingies. Also, above post is very good and points out good things. Good luck to all the aspiring Loremasters! Comment by Is it possible to complete this achievement with if you're hated with Booty Bay, Ratchet, Everlook and Gadgetzan? I only ask this because like an idiot, I went after my Bloodsail Admiral title before I could complete the loremaster achievment.
I understand I'm missing out on quite a bit of quests but can I find a way to still complete this achievment and be hated with Steamwheedle Cartel or am I going to have to grind my rep back up to neutral with Steamwheedle?
If anyone who's encountered this situation before can give me some advice or pointers, I'd really appreciate it. Comment by As for the holiday quests not counting At least, the ones during the Lunar Festival getting those Coins of Ancestry do. Comment by arcanepower is it possible to get this achieve without being friendly with the goblin towns? My tip is for an Orc Ghost that sits on the left side of the path from Swamp of Sorrows to Blasted Lands - 17 quest chain which starts in Blasted Lands, but has at least quests that count in Azshara.
Remember to look for 'This item begins a quest I picked up a few with that. Good luck to everyone! And major kudos to those that had to get before the patch - think I would have killed myself if I had to get that many. Comment by Ayria A great add-on for this achievement is Carbonite. Basically what it does is gives you a checklist of every quest you can start in a zone. When you do a quest it marks it off the list.
It lists all hard to find escorts, rare drops, and out of place quest givers. The only downside is after you download it, you have to mark off the quests your have already completed because it can't track quests before it is installed. Still a great way to go through a zone and see if you missed any quests. Comment by calmlunatic For me, the last quests that I had to do were the Linken quest chain, the chain where you have to get the crystals and investigate the towers, and some quest chain in Winterspring.
Comment by gamerunknown Wizzlecrank's shredder - make sure you do this one. Comment by can you get this done without doing any dungeon quests? Comment by Sithspit You said: "As a side-note As such, since they list under an EK zone, they do not count. Using this logic for the rest of my Kalimdor quests, quests that I discounted because of their starting point suddenly became useful, because their category placed them in a Kalimdor zone.
Comment by there's another quest i found was on the edge of the marshlands heading towards the slithering scar in ungoro called "it's a secret to everybody" if anyone missed that one i almost did. All credit goes to the authors of EveryQuest!
Greetings Fedono of Gorgonnash EU. Comment by Opcode Found a nice little quest line in Darnasus. The Barrens Port. Nice thing is while you're doing the quests in Eastern Kingdoms, the turn ins will count towards Kalimdor.
Hopes this helps those who are a bit stumped with a few to go. I already have "the seeker" title, so when soemone tells you are close to getting the pre-bc ach Comment by ginsbork63 March 20, Complete for my level Comment by Darkmanian So you've decided to try and get Loremaster? Bug not fixed this patch. Comment by SeanDamnit Bugged after 3. Others are reporting similar. Comment by My achievment didn't click over when I hit I got as far as before ticketing a GM. Official Blizz in-game e-mail received 26th April 09 says that the requirement is now quests and not The Achievement UI will be updated in a later patch.
In some of the US forums they've also reported achievement tick over when reaching so that would seem to bear out. I still have lots more quests that I could do that I chose to drop once I got the achievement, so people shouldn't have too much hassle in getting the extra 40 if they wanted the achievement now.
All I can recommend to the impatient people like me is to roam around all the zones and keep an eye on the mini map. There are quests all over the place and often you might think you've done a zone. My missing quests were in Redridge Mountains where I swear I'd done them all, but for some reason most were still there. Perhaps I'd gone there and the quests were green and so I had moved on elsewhere after doing a few token quests. After Patch 3.
I am still completing quests. Still no achievement has been awarded. I opened a ticket and response was not very helpful. Response referred to ingame mechanics controlling achievement so GM cant help. Seems to me that ingame mecanics a little broken. Several others are experiencing this problem as well judging on comments on WOW forums.
So when exactly are blizz gonna change the requirement? Comment by I can also confirm this. Comment by Giorgi GM's told me that the achievement is bugged atm and it requires quests to complete. They "said" that they are working on it but it currently requires Apparently the bug isn't that I'm not obtaining the achievement, the bug is that it's supposed to be quests, and they need to fix it. I'm very disappointed, to say the least. We are working to amend this achievement's requirements at this time and hope have the matter resolved as quickly as possible.
Also, for those who may be curious, the possibility of resolution via hotfix has indeed been discussed. Due to the changes we need to make to ensure this achievement's proper functionality, though, it still remains unlikely that we will able to do so without a patch.
You've my apologies for any delay or confusion, folks. Thank you for your patience! Comment by Do the raid attunement quests that are now optional count towards this achievement? Could someone possibly post if these quests count, which raids have optional attunement and where we would start them. Comment by Fastgr Anyone know if the fire festival quests count?
Comment by Ayria A great add-on for this achievement is Carbonite. Basically what it does is gives you a checklist of every quest you can start in a zone.
When you do a quest it marks it off the list. It lists all hard to find escorts, rare drops, and out of place quest givers. The only downside is after you download it, you have to mark off the quests your have already completed because it can't track quests before it is installed. Still a great way to go through a zone and see if you missed any quests. Comment by where have you found all those quests? I'm curently at and I don't find anything more. Comment by Spinkert I've asked on 3 servers about the 00X quests and each time a GM was able to confirm which ones I've done.
It may be that this is the only quest they will confirm. Once I did get lucky and a GM told me where I'd missed a bit in another chain, but generally they are unable to assist us in our quest for quests. Comment by Spinkert A GM has just confirmed that quest Level 40 35 : "The Black Box" - Badlands Kill the bird Zaricotl in Badlands to start this quest no longer exists, for those of you using this guide for easy to miss quests.
Comment by gerardjp I found out dungeon quests also count at least some of them , and you should do those because they can have 'normal' followups.
All credit goes to the authors of EveryQuest! Greetings Fedono of Gorgonnash EU. Comment by wackywack Well, I've been working on this achievement lately, and been using the new tracker beta feature in WoWHead. I've only noticed a few problems. I'm wondering if this is going to cause me to miss some quests, because all of the quests completed are not being listed. I've even found a few quests that weren't listed for the zone.
Comment by I can't seem to pick up the quest in Goldshire. Does anybody know why? I'm only 81 away from Loremaster and I know that area opens up a lot in Elwyn Forest. I mean, I can't even get the Hogger Quest! Comment by Darkmanian So you've decided to try and get Loremaster? Addons you'll want to help you along the way: 1st is EveryQuest. The 2nd is Lightheaded which has the ability to show you valuable WoWhead comments and info when you access your quest log. It can also show you where quest givers are in the form of coordinates.
Very very helpful. Also displays quest chains very helpful and helps you find where you are up to in that chain. The 3rd is TomTom waypoint arrow. For instance, if you're currently looking for a druid in Moonglade named Rukthaan fictional as I can't think of any of their names right now you would only need to type the NPCs name into Lighthead's search engine.
Find the right NPC and then click on the provided coords inside Lighthead interface, that will automatically engage TomTom's way point arrow to help you locate the NPC. But that was a hypothetical and EveryQuest should tell you exactly what quests you need to complete in order to finish each zone as you go on.
It will also have the functionality to help you see which quest givers have what, and allow TomTom to tell you where to go to find them. Comment by Gyainmaster I can confirm that all the quest Related to Upper Black rock spire and lower black rock spire and all Black rock depths quest do count to the loremaster of EK. I suggest to people doing this start in one area and just knock out the areas before you move on or you will be back tracking a lot.
Comment by Gyainmaster How this achievement decides which quests count towards the total is a bit hard to grasp. I think the main rule is quests related to world areas or non-raid instances according to your quest log.
Repeatable and daily quests do of course not count either. Right i have this figured out There are a few pvp quest that indeed do count to the Lore master achievement, but they are the quest you pick up from the select areas Altrec Mountains for Altrec Valley I am fairly sure half of those count. I know the one found in arthi highlands counts to it, where you have to actively attack the 5 different flags. Other than that I personally don't know of any others that do indeed count to the lore master title.
No Season quest count to it. I have tried with the Xmas ones and mid summer and they do not count at all. I am not sure on class quest counting, but i think most do not count. But if it is a item collection quest for some kinda of weapon or armor i wouldn't count on it counting. Race quest or quest that only your race can get do count to the count for lore master. I find with profession quest it depends on the quest, Like the armor smithing quest line counted to my total, but only half of them.
Now last but not least, I have found to this day that all or most quest dealing with raids to count to the lore master, Ones I know that do count off the top of my head, well is just that the head quest where you turn in heads for items. So off you go and kill Hakkar! Comment by fokkerwolf I have loremaster 2x Everyquest is awsome just a suguestion to thoes that want to be a loremaster do all the quests you can find in Eastern kingdoms lots of them don't count for the achievement but start quest lines that end end up giving you quests in Kalimdor areas that count there and you cant get until you do.
Comment by Not all of the quests in classic dungeons count for Loremaster now, but most of them do.
